MANEN GANNEN NO FUTOBORU - Der stumme Schrei

His internationally best-known work is probably a personal experience. This semi-biographical novel about the birth of a handicapped son and the resulting overload of the young father, but could draw such far under the spell, as could the silent cry. Before I knew this book inspired me Ōe primarily for his early works (THE CATCH, THE BUDS Tear AB) which deal with human destinies around the disastrous defeat of Japan 1945th But the highlight of his career and one of my favorite Japanese books, is immodest my readers think the story of two brothers, eine Reise durch die Subjektivität der Wahrnehmung, das zerstörerische Nachspüren verzerrter Erinnerung, Manen gannen no Futobōru (DER STUMME SCHREI oder auch "Die Brüder Nedokoro").

Der Ältere betrachtet die vergangenen Ereignisse absolut nüchtern, disillusioned, as one would consider an insect impaled in a dusty display case. The younger the other hand, lost in a euphoric inflated, heroic idealized dream world, clings to its instability, the disintegration of values postwar Japan's impulsive, to an idealized past, to the emptiness of the play "now." By disappointed hopes tormented, in fear of having so bungled the "certainty" of his life, the elder of the two wallows in self pity. Upon arrival at the village of her childhood, he leaves the heated delusion of his brother's initiative, is limited phlegmatic cynically comments on the role of the sarcastic observer. Ultimately, he sees idle stumbles like the younger brother in the disaster.
so this is a parable of the paralyzing silence of the intellectuals against the disasters of the (neo-) fascism, communism, capitalism and other ideologies or "only" the story of two very different brothers imprisoned in the subjectivity of memory? The history of refusal of consequences?

The Silent Cry has a strong message and interacts with its anti-ideological stance as relevant as 45 years ago, because the more the memories of the lived utopian delusions of the 20th Century fade, the greater erscheint die Gefahr die Schrecken der Vergangenheit zu verklären.
