KÜRZLICH GESEHEN…

AN ACTOR’S REVENGE
Kon Ichikawa (1962) 7,5/10

Stilistisch beeindruckendes Revenge-Movie, dessen genreübliche Handlung der prachtvollen Inszenierung nicht zu folgen vermag.

THE BAD SLEEP WELL
Akira Kurosawa (1960) 9,5/10

Ein weiteres Meisterwerk Kurosawas, dessen Eingangsszene (die Hochzeit!) to the best scenically, is that the Japanese cinema has to offer at all. Besides Ikiru my new favorite Gendai-geki from Kurosawa.

GONZA THE SPEARMAN
Masahiro Shinoda (1986) 8 / 10

GONZA looks like from the time fallen, turned 20 years late stragglers from the Japanese 60's Jidai-geki. Stylistically great as in Shinoda's best days.

FUNERAL PARADE OF ROSES
Toshio Matsumoto (1969) 9 / 10

An avant-garde experimental film, the scenes with interview segments mixed and before any too obscure psychedelic deposit shrinks. A truly orgiastic visual noise. As a heterosexual man should be (n), however, "enjoy" this trip to Tokyo in the gay community to be able to not suffer from homophobia.
BANSHUN – SPÄTER FRÜHLING
Yasujiro Ozu (1949) 8/10

Kenji Mizoguchi (1953) 9 / 10

The suffering of women in chauvinistic men s world is THE topic Mizoguchis. Here he demystifies the hypocritical world of geishas, whose everyday life is actually far less aesthetic and artistic, it will feel the positive racism of the West. A stylistically great Mizoguchi!

AKAS chitai - THE STREET OF SHAME
Kenji Mizoguchi (1956) 8 / 10

A similar theme as GION Bayashi, here in the real environment of prostitution, which has passed the fig leaf of the geisha culture long ago. Mizoguchis last film of some great scenes include, but reached a total of not quite the quality of his earlier masterpieces (especially LIFE OF Oharu ).
EVANGELION 1:11
Hideaki Anno (2007) 7 / 10

The reboot of the Evangelion franchise provides content for fans of the groundbreaking series hardly new. The familiar plot of the first three episodes has been streamlined substantially cut together and technically (quite impressive) polished.

EVANGELION 2:22
Hideaki Anno (2009) 8 / 10

be the first time, clear differences in plot and character development significantly (especially Asuka and Rei). I'm not fit me whether I like it, but overall it looks much fresher than the first part.
The quality of the animation was of course in turn increased impressively.

THE FANTASTIC MR. FOX
Wes Anderson (2009) 9 / 10

A puppet stop-motion film of delight in his wonderful old-fashioned charm of every true friend must animation. The dialogues and characters can totally convincing. Just great!
